I first met the boys from Bend, Oregon on Labor Day weekend 2009. They were in Tennessee to have me help produce and record ten songs. My longtime friend Chris Ramming brought us together. He met them in Richmond, VA when he booked the band at his club/restaurant Cous Cous. Chris housed them for a few days and ended up jumping in their van as an unofficial tour manager for a stretch dates on the east coast.
The instant I heard Larry And His Flask play, I became a fanatic. Their energy is boundless. Their writing and playing is inspired. This band literally lives on the road. Whether opening for Dropkick Murphys at the House of Blues or playing a street corner in NYC, they bring a balls-out live show that leaves your jaw on the floor.
This piece was filmed in my living room in Nashville in December 2010. It was mainly created for a Christmas variety show Ramming puts on every year at Cous Cous. Instead of a carol, they chose a Marvin Gaye classic to express a message of peace. If they come to your town, do yourself a favor and go to the show.
